How can we add a batch of multiple Landmarks in the PosiTrace system?
- Navigate to Account > Landmark List
- Click Add New > Upload Multiple Landmarks
- For Landmark Bulk Upload (Multiple Landmarks), please ensure you download the sample file so that you can format your landmarks correctly for our system.
This file wills how you all of the Columns in your spreadsheet (CSV or XLS) you need to include for the Landmark system to accept your file. Columns include:- Name
- Latitude (Can be left blank**)
- Longitude (Can be left blank**)
- Address
The Landmark system runs on Coordinates. If you don't have the coordinates of your Landmarks, you can leave your Lat / Long columns blank, and our system will Geocode your Address into Coordinates, with some restrictions:- Addresses must be a properly-formatted mailing address (Street number, Street Name, City, Province / State. Zip / Postal code is recommended as well, though in many cases the system will be able to geocode without it)
- Your Landmarks must be limited to 1,000 lines in any given file (999 lines of Landmarks + 1 header line).
- Our system can only geocode a maximum of 1,000 landmarks per month, per account. This is a limitation of the Mapping system API.
- Radius (in KM)
- Flag color
- Show on Map (Yes / No)
- Group Name (optional, but please include the column name itself)
- Description (optional, but please include the column name itself)
-
- When your file is finished, you can upload the completed CSV or XLS file using the interface shown above.
From here, if you included Coordinates in your file, you will be presented with a list of the Landmarks being imported. The button at the top should list the total number of landmarks as "Ready for Import"
If there are any coordinate failures, they will also be listed at the top, as in the following example where we have removed coordinate data details from the file:
From here you are able to run Geocoding for any addresses missing coordinates. You can also export the list of invalid or non-geocoded items to a new CSV file for you to download if you'd like to correct the file yourself.
In the below example, we've entered incorrect addressing data into one of the lines of the CSV file, so only one of the two non-geocoded files were able to be coded. You can use the "Geocoding Failed" button to download a copy of the failed items so you can correct the addresses and re-import them later.
From here, you can click the Ready to Import button to proceed with the Landmarks import.
