How do I change the odometer to less than what it is showing now?
The odometer value system is only designed to increase, not decrease, because of the nature of how Odometer values are recorded. So using a Maintenance Service record or a Metrics update to attempt to set a lower value will always fail.
An example of what that looks like, where the system is explaining the entered Odometer of 100 does not exceed (is not larger than) the entry made last on August 14th.
As a result, the only options to change the odometer would be as follows:
- The PosiTrace Platform considers each Equipment Name to be a separate vehicle. In the event you replace your vehicle, the old Equipment name can be unassigned by our Support Team and preserved (so the data is not lost), while a brand new Equipment Name with a new Odometer value can be created for your new vehicle.
The downside of this option is that your tracking history will be recorded only on the old Equipment name, not the new one. So for people wanting to retain the tracking history in a single record between old and new vehicles, this will not work. - For people who want to keep the same Equipment Name, but reduce the odometer value, you will need to remove all old Metrics logs from the Equipment Name which contain higher odometer values than the one you want to input today. This may include removing entire service entries as well, as the Metrics logs are attached to the Service Entry itself.
Deleting Manual Metrics logs can be done by navigating to your Equipment list, and while viewing the Equipment, select the Maintenance > Metrics Logs tabs. Use the 3-dot menu next to any manual entry to delete it
For Service entries, you will need to delete these under the Service History tab, not the Metris Logs tab.
