PosiTracker™|QLw
Installation Guide
Installation Checklist:
- A clear understanding of wiring diagram and installation procedure
- Recommended: Qualified vehicle electrical system installer.
- Correct gauge and length of any additional wiring
- Verify polarity, battery voltage (8-32 Volts DC) & ground with voltmeter
- Mounting location free from GPS-obscuring material & extreme heat / vibration. Install with sticker toward the sky.
- Your QLw device is Water-Resistant (IP67 Compliant)
- Install all wiring connections securely with some slack in wires
- Follow enclosed wiring diagrams and color code chart in Appendix
Installation Instructions:
- PosiTracker|QLw mounting location
- Identify solid, heat / vibration / moisture-free mounting location Recommended: between windshield and dashboard under top plastic cover.
- Ensure location is not covered by any metal parts
- Ensure the label faces up toward the sky
- Secure mounting after wiring is completed and tested
- Before installing device into vehicle:
- Write down IMEI number (under barcode) of the device
- Write down license plate/VIN or any identification number of vehicle
- Recommended: take pictures of device location and installation for future references. You can also forward them to support@positrace.com with device IMEI number to keep them on file.
- Basic installation (diagram available at the end):
- Pin 1 (red) - constant power from 8 to 32 Volts DC.
Recommended connection: positive contact on main vehicle battery. - Pin 2 (black) - ground.
Recommended connection: negative contact on main vehicle battery. - Pin 4 (white) - ignition detection. Positive voltage must be provided only when ignition is running, and zero volts when the ignition is off.
- Recommended connection: 3rd (run) position on ignition switch, or fuse panel “ignition” source if available. Please note - if connected to accessories, false trips and incorrect idling may occur.
- Alternate ignition wiring: If an ignition source is not easily found, you may leave the white ignition wire completely disconnected. Please contact Support with your IMEI # and let us know. We will set your device for Virtual Ignition. (Be aware: live ignition is always more accurate than Virtual Ignition)
- Pin 1 (red) - constant power from 8 to 32 Volts DC.
- Optional:
- Pin 3 (yellow) - PTO equipment (requires triggered ground source)
- Pin 5 (green) - Immobilizer installation, please refer to “Immobilizer Installation Guide”. Requires automotive relay hardware.
